
2010-2011:
Program for Multiple Undergraduate Research Projects
Purpose:
These grants are designed to fund programs of undergraduate research in aerospace, physics, astronomy, cosmology, Earth system science and other interdisciplinary space-related science or engineering fields at ISGC institutions. The program should involve multiple students working with multiple research advisors. The grants are available to faculty members or research scientists at all ISGC institutions.Awards:
A total of $190,000* has been allocated to these grants for the period March 1, 2010 – February 28, 2011.

Requirements:
- The grant must support research in an area of interest to NASA, e.g., aerospace engineering, physics, astronomy, cosmology or Earth system science.
- Grants must be matched (at least one-to-one) with funds from non-federal sources. Prior to the execution of a subaward agreement, the source of matching funds must be identified and confirmed by a letter from the appropriate authority. Waived indirect costs and faculty effort can qualify as matching funds.
- The objective of this grant is to encourage undergraduate participation in research. Proposals can include requests for salary, supplies, and travel support. ISGC funds cannot be used for the purchase of equipment.
- Any beneficiary of direct support (salary, wages, travel) from this grant MUST be a US citizen.
- The undergraduate students will submit final reports by Feb 28, 2011, to give a complete description of each of their research activities.
- All application materials must be submitted electronically by January 15, 2010.
Applications:

- Description of project (up to 3 pages) including:
- Names and affiliations (departments) of likely faculty participants
- Number of student participants
- Brief description of likely research projects
- Undergraduates’ roles and responsibilities in each research project
- Detailed description of student selection criteria and process, including the recruitment of underrepresented groups
- Single-spaced text in 12-point font with one-inch margins
- Budget form (Excel spreadsheet)
Selection Criteria:
Proposals will be reviewed by a ISGC Review Panel and selected based on adherence to the above criteria, scientific merit, and equitable distribution of resources across the Consortium. Women, under-represented minorities and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply. Participation in this program is limited to faculty (research and professorial) at ISGC affiliate and lead institutions.To Apply:
