
2009-2010:
Pre-College Education Program – K-12 Education Program
Purpose:
This award program is designed to promote projects and activities that encourage and enrich the study of science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics for K-12 students. Innovative activities associated with aerospace, space sciences, and Earth system sciences are preferred. Programs targeted to women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged.
Awards:
A total of $35,000* has been allocated for K-12 education programs and activities taking place between March 1, 2009 and February 28, 2010.

Requirements:
- Programs should have an emphasis on the study of science, technology, engineering, and/or mathematics for K-12 students. Activities associated with aerospace, physics, astronomy, cosmology, or Earth system sciences are preferred.
- Grants must be matched (at least one-to-one) with funds from non-federal sources. Prior to the execution of a subaward agreement, the source of matching funds must be identified and confirmed by a letter from the appropriate authority. Waived indirect costs and professional staff/faculty effort can qualify as matching funds.
- Proposals may include requests for salary, supplies, and travel support. ISGC funds cannot be used for the purchase of equipment.
- The proposal must include a description of a longitudinal tracking plan. K-12 students must be tracked through high school graduation.
- Any beneficiary of direct support (salary, wages, travel) from this grant MUST be a US citizen.
- The project PI will submit a final report by February 28, 2010 to give a complete description of the K-12 activities. The report will also include the status of proposals recently submitted/to be submitted based on the activities funded by the ISGC grant.

- Purpose: including audience and educational objectives
- Method: what activity(ies) is included
- Results: anticipated value-added benefits
- Schedule: timeline including project period and important milestones/deadlines
- Brief self-evaluation plan
- Single-spaced text in 12-point font with one-inch margins.
- Budget form (Excel spreadsheet)
Selection Criteria:
Proposals will be reviewed by an ISGC Review Panel and selected based on adherence to the above criteria, educational merit, and equitable distribution of resources across the Consortium. Programs targeted to women, under-represented minorities, and persons with disabilities are strongly encouraged. Proposal submission in this program is limited to faculty/professional staff at ISGC affiliates and lead institution.
