DBF Q&A #5

Q: Are leading edge slats allowed and how do they figure into the RAC?

A: Leading edge slats are allowed.  Slats will be considered the same as flaps for the RAC.  Ailerons+flaps+slats will have a control_function_multiplier of 3 the same as ailerons+flaps+spoilers.

Q: Can we split the 3 lb propulsion battery into more than 1 physical battery pack?

A:  Yes, as long as the total weight of propulsion batteries flown on any mission is less than or equal to 3 lbs.

Q: Can the payload release be servo powered by the propulsion battery pack?

A: No.  The RC receiver and all servos MUST be powered by a separate battery pack.  There is no weight limit for the RC system battery pack, but it MUST be either a NiCad or NiMH battery, LiPo cells are not allowed on the aircraft for any use.

Q: Can the wing-tip payload be located below the wing?

A: Yes, it my be below the wing within the specified 3" of the tip, or it can be on the end of the wing tip (provided it still meets the specified 3" centerline distance, see FAQ Payload #5).
