- 9/13/09 - Major website overhaul and some fixes. Still a work in progress.
- 2/19/08 - Added the TSAGI R-3A submitted by Zverkov Ilya. He writes that: it is a general aviation airfoil. It has wide spread in Russia for ultra light aircrafts. The first reference is Krasilshikov P.P. "Airfoil characteristics atlas", TSAGI, Moscow, 1940. Original airfoil has 15% thickness. This one is 12% thick.
- 5/15/07 - Added a Rhinoceros (3D CAD software) airfoil suite from Rick Loheed.
- 11/29/06 - Added NACA 65(3)-618.dat provided by Bob Kuykendall.
- 11/10/06 - Added a blurb about the Rhino airfoil importer (for the Rhino CAD/CAM software).
- 5/5/06 - Added S8065 and S8066 or Q-40.
- 11/18/05 - Bill Gilmore created CAD files for the airfoil database. Thanks Bill! The dwg files are here: Directory listing
- 4/5/04 - Some updates from David Lednicer include: HS1 family of prop airfoils from US Patent No. 4,519,746.
- 3/16/04 - Added these notes for Microsoft IE users.
- Missing Links: Some people who use Microsoft IE have reported that the links below are not displayed. This is a Microsoft browser problem. If anyone has a solution, let me know.
- Resized images: The new version of IE by default will automatically resize graphics images to fit your screeen. The plots of the airfoils below are large and will likely be resized. In the IE Tools -> Internet Options -> Advanced area, this resize "feature" can be disabled if desired. Search for "Enable automatic image resizing" under the Multimedia section heading.
- 12/12/02 - Big Update. Added several new airfoils from many sources, and the version number was incremented to 2. There are now 1550 airfoils in the database. Dave Lednicer was able to track down a new Liebeck airfoil for the listing. Also, Lawrence Hur (UIUC undergrad) gathered up 250 or so new airfoils! I've also added many airfoils from Mark Drela and Martin Hepperle. The coordinates from Martin Hepperle might not match perfectly with those from before because he regenerated the designs to higher percision. Hopefully, I have not forgotten anyone!
- 12/12/00 - Added link to Prof Mark Drela's public release of XFOIL for airfoil design and analysis.
- 9/15/00 - Replaced the image on the ads page. The old one below was
retired after several years of service.

NSU2D Navier-Stokes CFD calculation courtesy of C.K. Song (B.S., UIUC/AE). - 4/9/00 - Added MH64 to the update dir.
- 3/25/00 - Added the EH 2.0/7.0 and EH 1.0/7.0 to the update dir.
- 12/23/99 - Added a link to: Hiroshi Takeuchi's airfoil collection [broken]. This site uses the UIUC Airfoil Data Site coordinates and some UIUC LSATs low Reynolds number airfoil data. There are search features and interactive plotting routines that make this a useful site.
- 9/26/99 - Added the FAQ regarding airfoil performance data.
- 3/26/99 - Added the NACA 64(2)-415 to the update dir.
- 3/5/99 - Decided to move the updates to one single directory. Added to the updates directory: Mark Drela's MRC 16 and MRC 20 used on the Decavitor human powered hydrofoil, and also the E591.
- 8/23/98 - The AH21 was incorrectly attributed to Althaus. The AH21 is an Andrew Hollom airfoil designed as an improvement over the RG15. The original AH21 airfoil was 9%, then a 7% version was designed. Both versions are not included in the main listing. The archives still contain the incorrect reference.
- 8/20/98 - Another update to Lednicer's NACA.EXE code.
- 8/6/98 - Posted an update to Dave Register's airfoil plotting program.
- 7/15/98 - Added some more links under "Other Airfoil Data and Information Sites".
- 8/28/97 - Opus ftp site for airfoil coordinates (UIUC Airfoil Data Site) is back online.
- 8/20/97 - Added more airfoils: cootie.dat drgnfly.dat, du861372.dat, fx711530.dat, lds2.dat, naca1.dat, nlf0115_lfmt.dat, nlf1015_lfmt.dat, pfcm.dat, sc20010.dat, sc20012.dat, sc20402.dat, sc20403.dat, sc20404.dat, sc20406.dat, sc20410.dat, sc20412.dat, sc20414.dat, sc20503.dat, sc20518.dat, sc20606.dat, sc20610.dat, sc20612.dat, sc20614.dat, sc20706.dat, sc20710.dat, sc20712.dat, sc20714.dat, sc21006.dat, sc21010.dat, sg6040.dat, sg6041.dat, sg6042.dat, sg6043.dat, sg6050.dat, sg6051.dat.
- 4/3/97 - More about the LS(1)-0413 [GA(W)-2]: The NASA LS(1)-0413 listed are the original coordinates from the report NASA TM X-74018, which also includes original coordinates for the LS(1)-0413MOD. The report NASA TM X-72697, which covers the GA(W)-2 tunnel tests, only includes the coordinates measured off the model. Finally, the LS(1)-0413 coordinates listed in NASA-CR-145139 in August 1976 appear to be wrong.
- 3/21/97 Added new airfoils: SA7035, SA7036, and SA7038 for R/C thermal soaring. These airfoils are based on the SD7037. Included tags A, B, C, ... for quick zoom to airfoil.
- 3/6/97 - A viewer found a bug: "The airfoil data listed for the LS(1)-0413 [GA(W)-2] differs from that published in NASA-CR-145139 in August 1976. The differences are greatest near the leading and trailing edges." The file has not yet been corrected. See ls0413.html
- Added *.zip archives of 12-15-96 database.
- 1/22/97 - A correction - The Wortmann FX 71-L-150/30 airfoil file (fx71l150.dat) was actually a duplicate of the Wortmann FX 71-L-150/20 airfoil (fx711520.dat). The gif plot for the errant Wortmann FX 71-L-150/30 was removed.
- 11/13/96 A correction - The airfoil that was identified as the MS(1)-0413 in the database should be the MS(1)-0313 instead. This change has been made. The gif plot has not been change as of this date.
- 11/9/96 - Posted some new airfoils to the Airfoil Data Site: bw3.dat davis_corrected.dat e231.dat e476.dat e477.dat e478.dat eh0009.dat eh1090.dat eh1590.dat eh2010.dat eh2012.dat eh2510.dat eh3012.dat griffith30SymSuction.dat s8038.dat s8055.dat.
