Results for Turbine B
Cl in Variable Wind Mode
This is the Cl curves at the 25% and 65% span locations
along the blade are shown. The data was generated at 10 segments along
the blade span, from 5% to 95%. The wind speed was varied from 7mph to
50mph to generate the angles of attack on the blade.
Lift Coefficient at 25% and 65%
Cl in Fixed Wind Mode
The predictions using the UIUC model in the above figures is from the
variable wind mode. The data at 25% stations and for the full range of
-180 to +180 deg is shown below for the fixed wind mode. Data
generation in the fixed wind mode is used to generate input files for
the PROP93 and AERODYN programs.
Cl and Cd from -180 deg to 180 deg at
(r/R) = 25%
Power
Below is the power curve generated by the program with Corrigan's
model, UIUC model and plain 2D data uncorrected for 3D effects. The
experimental data provided by NREL for their AWT26 is also shown. The
agreement between the 3D models and the experimental data is good. The
modeling of turbine B is similar to the NREL AWT26 and hence the
results for the two turbines are compared.
