Research Areas

Research Area: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Research in CFD is very diverse. Some of the current projects focus on 3-D inverse design using sectional 3-D analysis, aerodynamic design with an analytical asymptotic solution approach, and shape optimization for transonic compressors. There are currently three active research projects in CFD. Several of these projects are sponsored by the NASA Glenn Research Center. The research is conducted by faculty members, numerous graduate students, undergraduate students, and visiting scholars.

Faculty Researchers: Labs:
  • D. Bodony - Aeroacoustics, Aerodynamics, Computational fluid dynamics, combustion
  • K. D. Lee - Computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, transonic flows, design optimization
  • E. Loth - Aerodynamics, Aeroelasticity, Computational fluid dynamics, Materials and Structures
