Description of Research:

Directed by Professor G. S. Elliott. The labs introduce undergraduate students to experimental methods in aerodynamics and propulsion. A wide range of experiments are employed including subsonic and supersonic wind tunnel measurements, hot wire, and shock tube experiments. The labs have been upgraded and new experiments include subsonic wind tunnel tests of the forces and pressures on a wing, flowfield measurements using laser doppler velocimetry, supersonic flow visualization, and design and execution of flat plate boundary layer measurement as a team effort.
