Membership Requirements

During the Fall semester, Sigma Gamma Tau obtains a list of all AAE students eligible to join based on grades through the previous Spring semester. Eligiblity is based on the following criteria.

Sophomores

• Top 1/5 of class (in aerospace department)
• Must have completed one aerospace course

Juniors

• Top 1/4 of class

Seniors

• Top 1/3 of class

Graduate Students

• Open to all with good standing

Once those eligible to join have been recognized, they are invited to join by participating in an initiation ceremony typically held in late fall or early spring. Initiates are asked to submit a one-time $40 initiation fee, $25 to the national branch and $15 to the local chapter. The membership fee is only charged at initation and grants lifetime membership in Sigma Gamma Tau. For more information see the online Initiation Forms.

The current chapter membership is provided here. If you were inducted by another chapter and have transferred to UIUC, please inform the Membership Vice President so we can add you to our roster.

Inducted Members

The UIUC chapter was one of the original 14 chapters when Sigma Gamma Tau was formed in 1953. Since that time, 635 Illini have been initiated by the University of Illinois chapter.
