Student Programs

The bulk of Sigma Gamma Tau's activities are to provide services benefiting University of Illinois students, especially those in the AE department. Below are described several of our longest running and most successful programs.

Tutoring Program

Sigma Gamma Tau organizes by-request tutoring in all undergraduate AE courses, engineering software, programming languages, areas of mathematics, and technical writing. Tutors are usually upper classmen or grad students that volunteer to help in a number of areas. To request tutoring, check the Tutoring Table and contact the volunteer that suits your needs directly.

Class Files

[Update coming soon!] In recent years, Sigma Gamma Tau has been collecting old exams and homework from core AE classes, technical electives, and graduate level courses. These are available, at the professors' discretion, for student reference. Many files are kept in the SGT office in 323 Talbot Lab and are available for photocopying by appointment with an officer. To make them more accessible to students, we have also begun placing files on reserve in Grainger Library to be checked out for an hour at a time. To see the courses currently available, consult the Class Files page. (NOTE: some files are available on the web only)

Resume Program/Career Center

Traditionally, SGT gathers resumes from all AE grads and undergrads each year and sends them as a book to companies in the aerospace industry. We now operate an on-line system in cooperation with the Job Resource. The Sigma Gamma Tau Career Center allows students to post their resume, review job postings from a large number of employers, and electronically submit their resumes to companies they are interested in. Undergraduate Employment

Sigma Gamma Tau often promotes research opportunities within the AE department open to undergraduate students. Many professors are seeking such students to assist in research projects ranging from aerodynamics to structural analysis. Students generally are able to work on a project for either credit or pay as they choose. To see openings currently available, check the Research Opportunities page.
